Communication Majors Encouraged to Acceler8 PR Careers at Student Day 2010
Students from across Kansas are invited to take part in this year’s Acceler8PR Student Day 2010, taking place Oct. 13 at Wichita State University’s Rhatigan Student Center (Room 203). The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
College students majoring in communication fields at community colleges and universities are encouraged to attend this one-day seminar based upon the notion of providing as much practical and applicable information to propel students toward a successful career in public relations.
Cost is $15 per student/advisor. The full agenda and registration information is available via the event’s page on Facebook: Acceler8PR.
This year’s event will focus on three areas:
• Crisis Communication - Hear from Gordon Bassham, Executive Director of the Wichita Crime Commission.
• Getting Hired - Melissa Lock, HR Manager from KWCH Channel 12 will share insights from the interview.
• Social Media - Discussion from active social media communicators on trends and tips including Brett Snyder, a national travel industry blogger and social media entrepreneur (http://www.crankyflier.com and http://www.crankyconcierge.com).
The Acceler8PR Student Day 2010 is sponsored by the Kansas Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
